Welcome to the 26th American Cancer society Vintage Affair! Accept our sincere thanks for joining us this evening. Tonight, you will enjoy good food, and good fun, among good friends.
In the year 1913, 15 physicians worked together to found what would become the American Cancer Society. ACS fills a unique need, funding young investigators for new, promising ideas at a crucial time in their careers. Their track record of funding 47 Nobel Prize winners early in their careers demonstrates their ability to identify the best and brightest ideas. Since the ACS research program was established in 1946, it has invested more than $4 billion in cancer research. In Alabama, more than $6.3 million is currently invested in research grants.
Now, more than 100 years later, ACS continues “Attacking from all Angles” and has contributed to a 27% decrease in the overall cancer death rate in the United States since 1991. As you bid generously on auction items tonight, know that you are supporting an organization that has a proven track record of changing what it means to have cancer. Generous donations, tireless volunteers, and persistent research have ensured that cancer is no longer a death sentence.
A special thank you to members of the Montgomery Leadership Council that have worked tirelessly to create the “Vintage Affair” experience.

For more than a 100 years, The American Cancer Society has been leading the fight to end cancer. With your support, we have helped usher in an era where more people survive cancer than ever before. By translating our research findings into action, we've seen a 20% decline in US cancer death rates since the early 1990s.
